Dr. Covington sees a lot of people from the Yakima area that are injured at work. According to the National Safety Council, the most frequent kind of work injury is musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), which involves trauma to the muscles, nerves, tendons, ligaments and joints. MSDs account for more than one third of all workplace injuries.
The most frequent type of MSD is a strain, which is an injury to a muscle or tendon. Strains are caused by lifting, pushing or pulling too much weight, or by repetitive movements. Other common MSDs include carpal tunnel syndrome, tendinitis and back issues.
These injuries can be stopped by using appropriate lifting techniques, taking many breaks and using ergonomic devices. Employers can also help put a stop to injuries by providing their employees educational materials on preventing getting hurt on the job.
Back issues and injuries are a common issue that Dr. Covington sees in our #Ciyt# office and we also work with folks who have shoulder or neck discomfort.
If you have sustained a work injury or accident and live in the Yakima region, give Dr. Covington a call and make an appointment today. We will help you to create a treatment plan that will help you get relief and do our best to get you back on the job as fast as possible!
